Raise your hand if you have designed your own typeface(s)... whether on paper only or have actually digitized them.

Wed, October 29, 2003 - 9:57 AMI have a font open for critique:

As usual, no one on Typophile has condescended to say anything. Be the first to offer any constructive criticism or suggestions! -

Mon, January 19, 2004 - 1:15 PMOkay, what the heck, I'm utterly newbie to this group, but I'll put my foot in it..:) I checked out the Blaisdell font you opened up for critique. I gotta say I like it; somehow retro & modern at the same time. On the triple solid, I would go a touch larger on the counters on your P's, B's & A's. On some printers, & with more absorbent papers, they may have a tendency to fill in. For what it's worth, there ya have it. -

Mon, January 19, 2004 - 5:09 PMThanks for the suggestion, Kenneth! I wish more people critiqued my stuff on Typophile... but it's OK -- the stuff I like and the stuff they like is so different. -

Tue, January 20, 2004 - 6:33 AMYou don't have to like it to critique it. I tend to learn more from critiques by people who hate my work than from those who like it.

Re: Font Designers
Mon, June 14, 2004 - 9:55 PMYes I have designed over 50 typefaces, and about 120 fonts.
Started in the mid 80's because I had nothing at my disposal that I liked.
Absolutely loved doing it, and I think I had some really good designs.
But it was a real dead end deal, so I gave it up and got out of it altogether. Went and lived up in northern Ontario, in a little cabin well away from anyone. Worked on logging crews, fought forest fires, cleared a 200 acre sugar bush, grew plants, fixed up the hunt camp/farm I lived in, shot my rifle as often as I could, rode my mountain bike as much as I could, and gradually got into designing and building outdoor and military gear.
But creativity is one of those things that you can't deny, and I am getting back into graphic design in a big way. Even working on some typefaces again.
Trying to get a web site built to showcase all of the stuff I've done over the years.
And no, I didn't release any. No desire. I simply saw my typefaces as a way to add a really unique, distinctive look to my graphic design work. -

There's nothing wrong with that! Most of my fonts have been for personal use. But I'd love to see samples of what you've done.
