Fellow Typographers,
Might anyone be aware of a freeware font creation program that I can download onto my mac?
Also interested to see peoples own creations . . . .

Re: Font Creation
Mon, May 16, 2005 - 9:12 AMi am interested in the same thing sebastian. i would like to play around with font creation a bit, before buying any software...
i used to modify individual letters using illustrator and freehand all the time when doing logo design. how does font creation work? what is the magic that happens between me creating a letter style, and it becoming part of a font set? how do i get from there (a "shape", then presumably a series of 26 shapes), to a program that makes the correct shape appear when i hit it on my keyboard?

Font Lab seems to me to be the easiest to use. I have used Fontographer in the past with no real luck. When I started using "Font Lab" it started to click.
check it out:
www.fontlab.com/Font-utili...b-Products/
These are trials but will give you and everyone else a good idea.
